Florida was so much fun. The drive was tough, but once we got there we were so happy we decided to go. We stayed the first few days in Panama City with our sweet friends, Chris and Katy. They live in a great condo right on the beach. The picture above is the view from their living room. It was raining when I took the photo, so it doesn’t look as beautiful as it really is, but you get the idea.
While we were there, Rose decided to wake up even earlier than usual…I blame the east coast sunrise. In order to keep her entertained without waking up our lovely hosts, we took her straight to the beach when she got up. It was a great way to start each day. The first time she put her feet in the sand was adorable. She was confused and had a really hard time walking for a few minutes (video below). She got the hang of it pretty quickly though. We also had fun walking out on the pier and looking at all the fish, stingrays, and sharks (those actually made me really nervous, but they were cool to see). Even though it was really hard to wake up super early, those peaceful little walks on the beach with her and Ryan each morning were my favorite.
Once everyone else was awake, we all got our swimsuits on and spent the rest of the morning playing outside. There wasn’t a whole lot of relaxing and getting a tan, but I sortof expected that. We made some pretty awesome sand castles that were immediately destroyed when Rose figured out she could step on them. She loved the water, too. I really thought she’d be scared of it, but the waves made her laugh so hard. Her daddy was proud. He was also proud when she ate a TON of crab legs.
One afternoon we took a drive to the lake to sail around on Chris’ sailboat. Unfortunately, there was absolutely no wind and we ended up just sitting still on a boat in the middle of the lake. Ryan’s favorite thing in the world is swimming in lakes, so he took advantage of it and had a blast. Rose hated wearing a life jacket and threw a pretty good tantrum when I made her put it on, but luckily Katy was there to make her laugh again. Thanks, Katy. Thanks for also making our vacation perfect. You and Chris are blessings.
