Living in a hotel room with a baby

Don’t judge us. This is what happens when you live in a hotel room for 8 days, your husband for 21 days, and you carry along with you a 16 month old.

Pros of living in a hotel room

-someone makes your bed and picks up your towels everyday
-someone takes out the trash everyday….bless their heart, whoever that person is. Ross has had some very interesting diapers
-I’m really trying hard to think of a few more pros
-you get to ride on an elevator multiple times a day which entertains your child for 90 seconds
-if you forget something, like a brush, they will bring you the most darling little comb…for free
-because of all the sirens you hear, your child is able to identify a fire truck
-the A/C can go as low as you want and you don’t have to worry about the bill
-there are lots of telephone books for your child to play with…and the Gideon Bible
-they provide mouthwash

Cons of living in a hotel room

-you’re constantly unplugging the land line phone for your child to play with
-your child NEVER takes a nap
-you hear sirens all through the night
-it’s impossible to keep your room clean, for us anyway
-the shampoo is terrible
-the lighting is terrible
-the toilet paper is terrible
-you have to eat out every meal…with your child
-your child has pushed the alarm button on the elevator 4 times
-you have to schedule your life around the cleaning lady
-when your child FINALLY falls asleep, you and your husband are stuck playing Risk, in the dark, on the iPad, for 3+ hours

This is what Ross did to entertain himself while I was writing this blog post.

Xoxo, L

  1. Woohoo! You figured out how to add pictures! And, I’m glad you were able to think of some pros. Bless you, Landra. I don’t think I’d survive.

  2. Ross is a wild child….I love it!!! And, I too would die if I had to live in a hotel this long. You are supermom.

  3. I can almost feel your pain as this is us every weekend and laughed when you talked about how you have to unplug the landline. I’ll mail you some good shampoo and conditioner because there is no reason for your hair to suffer too.

  4. Hahaha oh my goodness Landra. I seriously can only relate in the smallest vacation type ways possible. You seriously are a champ!! And I love that you can always show Ross what he did.

  5. Landra,
I just got finished laughing out loud at your comments on the hotel living! One day you will look back on this time in your life and laugh…but right now, not so much. Here’s an idea…maybe start writing a book and the title could be, “And You Think Your Life Sucks”. HA !! Loving you. Hang in there. You are a trooper, that’s for sure. Keep your smile and laughter. This is NOT forever (although it may seem like it)
    Love you! Aunt Denise
